Many of the Prism's programs include an externship program. Students get the unique advantage of on-the-job type experience at an approved, supervised off campus site.
Medical Program Externship Opportunities
In the medical programs, students extern at:
- Doctor's Offices
- Clinics
- Hospitals
- Medical Centers
- Labs
- Medical Billing and Insurance Companies
Early Childhood Education Externship Opportunities
In the Early Childhood Education program, Practicum/Externship sites may include:
- Day Care Centers
- Pre-Schools
- Corporate Centers
- After School Programs
- Community Centers and Agencies
Externships allow students to put into practice what they've learned in the classroom.
Supportive Learning Environment
The Externship allows the student to apply new skills and knowledge in a real-world setting. This provides a more practical educational experience which adds to the student's success. Prism Career Institute is committed to making the student's Externship a positive experience by working closely with the student to find the best fit based on student's interests, preparedness and education.
Advantages
Externship provides an opportunity to apply some of the skills gained during the program in a real workplace setting. It will also give the student exposure to diversity, respect and positive interpersonal relationships in the workplace. This experience should be included on student's resume which can be beneficial in securing employment. It also provides the opportunity demonstrate competency, to network, and build relationships that can lead to employment at the externship site.
