Busy Life? You Can Still Train for a Healthcare JobIf you want a career that provides personal satisfaction, good compensation, and opportunities for advancement, multiple healthcare jobs meet these criteria. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects fast growth in healthcare support occupations. Even though you may be busy working full-time and taking care of family responsibilities, you can train for healthcare jobs with an educational plan that fits both your schedule and budget.

Prism Career Institute offers multiple programs at our three convenient campus locations, in Philadelphia, PA, Cherry Hill, NJ, and West Atlantic City, NJ. Here, we discuss how busy people can still find training for a healthcare job.

A Focus on Healthcare Jobs at Prism Career Institute

Educational programs at Prism Career Institute are focused on healthcare careers. We understand that enrolling in school is a big step and that our students have competing responsibilities. That’s why we offer flexibility in our programs, which include:

Practical Nursing

With courses offered daytime, evening, and on weekends, students in the Practical Nursing program can complete their training in 63 weeks, less than a year and a half. After graduation, they may be eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nursing, an important step toward becoming a practical nurse (PN). As part of the training, our students gain firsthand experience, so they can approach their new futures with confidence.

Medical Assistant

The Medical Assistant program can be completed in ten months. Students are exposed to a variety of specialized functions and practical experience. Our program includes training in medical coding and billing, as well as phlebotomy. In addition, there is a required externship so students can explore working in the field.

Practical Strategies to Help You Train for Healthcare Jobs

Prism Career Institute can help even the busiest people train for new careers in healthcare. We’ve found that once our students find the right program, they are highly motivated to achieve their goals. Here are a few strategies that help along the way:

  • Share your career plans with family and friends to explain reorganized schedules.
  • When possible, enlist the support of your workplace and request schedule flexibility.
  • Commutes, meal breaks, and vacation days can all be used as times for study.
  • Technologies, such as audiobooks or relevant apps, are portable aids for coursework.
  • Spend less time watching television or engaging with social media.
  • Continue to take time for self-care, nourishment, exercise, and mindfulness.

There is often self-reflection involved when considering a career change, or starting a new venture, such as enrolling in school. This is a wonderful time to evaluate the current situation and discover where changes can be made. Looking for new opportunities can bring a change of perspective, lifting boundaries and enabling a sense of freedom and possibility. Take advantage of this time to set up different patterns and question the existing status quo. This process is sure to bring new ideas as you embark on an exciting new educational program and vocation.
