Medical Assistant Program

Our medical assisting program provides 720 hours of training over 40 weeks. Coursework will cover topics such as anatomy, pharmacology, and medical law. Students learn clinical skills such as:

  • Electrocardiography (EKG)
  • Phlebotomy
  • CPR
  • Measuring vital signs

This program also covers administrative skills such as electronic health records management. Medical assistants work in roles that require a range of clinical and clerical tasks. Some medical assistants specialize in working with certain populations, such as children or older adults. Others focus on assisting physicians in a specific branch of medicine, such as podiatry or ophthalmology.

Practical Nursing Program

Students in the practical nursing program at Prism Career Institute complete 1,560 clock hours of training. Courses will cover foundational topics including medical terminology, pharmacology, and acute and chronic health care. Students will complete clinical rotations at offsite locations to gain real-world experience. Recent graduates without PN experience, will likely start working in long-term care facilities, as well as hospitals, medical offices, or outpatient care centers. With additional training and experience, practical nurses can move into supervisory roles.
